Rain, rain and more rain

You know what they say about Queensland - beautiful one day, underwater the next! We've had so much rain over the past few days, with widespread flooding in Brisbane and the coasts. Here at home, there's a little creek that runs through the front of our property, but this morning I woke to find it looking like this:

Needless to say, no school for the kids today, and my daughter managed to bog her car trying to make it to her first day of prac teaching. Looks like we have no choice but to stay home, drink hot chocolate and watch movies! I do hope though, that the rest of the Queensland blogging community is safe and well today, and out of the flood-prone areas.

Have a great day everyone, and stay out of the rain!

  4. Eek! That's one serious looking creek there my friend. On the positive side, being stranded in your house would be wonderful on a day like today, and the grass is really green!! Take care when paddling ok :)

  5. Holly Molly! And I was complaining about the bit of flooding around our gate. I had to leave for a little while but it is nice to be back working from home. Hot chocolate sounds good.

  6. Wow Kerri that is an amazing amount of water, I hope you have a 4 wheel drive to ferry you through it all. We live in the Eastern suburbs and although the rain has been a constant for the last week or so I have not seen flooding that like (yet).

  7. Ummmm. Serious water, Kerri! Stick with that hot chocolate - my mum in Murwillumbah said it had been non-stop rain, but I couldn't visualise this! I think I need to go to the webcam on the Tweed and check it out, for reassurance...

  8. Hi Kerri, isn't it horrible!!!! Your pictures are similar to my neighbours. The creek has broken its bank and the water is gushing... Number one son made it to school but number two is home with me today. His school had flooding. I hope our little bridge isn't flooded, I have to pick up number 1 son shortly and it looks all very daunting out there.... ;-)

  12. Hi Kerri some Decorating Forum members were chatting and showing pictures about this earlier today. It's quite incredible. The last time I visited Brisbane it was so dry. I do think you have a great attitude towards it. Enjoy your hot chocolates and stay safe:)

  14. Your little creek looks like it grew into a sizable stream. Hope all are dry and safe.
