Beat the heat

It's another scorcher here in sunny Qld today. The past few months have been anything but typical weather-wise, but the typical heat and humidity have now arrived with a vengeance. The crew and I spent most of yesterday in and out of the pool, and that's my plan for today too. Paint - swim - paint - swim....sounds pretty good to me.

I'm not the only one who enjoys a refreshing dip. My studio assistant Darcy adores it. But we have a small problem - the entry.

here he is - on guard at all times

I hope you're paying attention Darcy. This is how it's done. You need to run and jump at the same time. Maybe the adorable Cooper could teach him a thing or two. Darcy uses this method...

...but always manages to fall in head-first. And once in, he won't get out. I didn't manage to get a photo of Darcy yesterday as I was too busy trying to get him out of the pool, so I'm using these for illustrative purposes only. Hope he takes note and learns a trick or two.

There will be devouring of mango iceblocks by the truckload today too. And as for the painting, I'm working on a request for peonies and ginger jars - two of my favourite things.

Hope your day has lots of loveliness in store for you too.

  1. Sounds like the perfect way to spend a scorcher of a the pics of Darcy..too funny x

  2. Kerri, the pool photo's are too funny. You're going ahead in leaps and bounds with your painting. I love all your inspirations. I'm itching to get back into having a go, unfortunately I'm busy with the more mundane kind of painting. Hope you stay cool and have a lovely day.

    Lisa x

  3. Peonies, ginger jars, and a pool all sound lovely right about now! Darcy is too cute, and who can blame him for wanting to stay in the pool?!

    Kat :)

  4. That's sort of how I go into a pool. Never could manage to learn to dive...

  5. I love that running and jumping pic! I wish we had a pool, it's not too hot here today but just SO muggy - yuck!
Thanks for your lovely comment today and keep cool my dear!

  6. What a sweet dog. I can't imagine him going in headfirst. Someone threw my boxer in our pool (her first time in) and she just sank to the bottom. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!
    Ginger jars and peonies **sigh**.

  7. Too funny. Very cute dog photos. My kids were asking for mango icy poles just last night.

  8. The humidity has been pretty intense in Brisbane today, even a big storm couldn't really shift it. My cats were streched out trying to cool themselves on the bathroom floor as it's the only floor with tiles. A dip in the pool and some ice blocks sounds just right. x

  9. that's too funny. my border collie loves a swim, but has to wait for me to take him to the beach. he'd be dead set jealous of Darcy.

Stinking hot here too - hope you get a break from it soon darl xxx

  10. Oohhhh .. is he Darcy .. as in 'Mr Darcy'. I do have a thing for Mr Darcy - and I also love labs. And pools. Hmmm .. I think this post was just for ME (-:
