A way overdue notice about my new website!

Well this is embarrassing! I probably should have mentioned this sooner (and it would explain the terrible lack of posting here) but my blog has a new home. Head on over to the Driftwood Interiors blog and you'll not only see what's been happening, but you'll also get a look at all of the new artwork in my online store. See you there!

My coral paintings for Designer Boys on House Rules

Have you guys been watching all the reno shows on tv? I was flicking between House Rules and The Block last night, and managed to miss seeing this:

Thanks to a timely text message (thanks Kacie!), I caught the room reveal which included my blue coral painting, one of my range of artworks for the Designer Boys. I had no idea it was going to be used, so it was a lovely surprise. I love the way it's been used alongside the gorgeous Florence Broadhurst wallpaper here - very bright and beachy.

I've been lucky enough to see my artwork featured in some lovely rooms lately, and thought you might like to see more of the range. Leigh from Highgate House has been a wonderful supporter of my work, using the corals in a number of her beautiful designs:

The whole Designer Boys range will soon be available at the Driftwood Interiors online store. Until then, you can take a look at the rest of my coral wall art.

Hamptons pool house in the heart of Sydney

Aussie devotees of Hamptons style will instantly recognise this gorgeous pool house. It was featured in Australian House and Garden magazine and, along with the main house, it can now be yours. The interior design is by Lynda Kerry, and gardens are the work of William Dangar, so you know it's something special...

I love it when a house I've admired in a magazine is listed for sale - there's nothing I like better than a virtual sticky beak (expect maybe a real one). And it's always interesting to see how a home styled for a magazine shoot can be completely transformed. For those who haven't seen the House and Garden feature, here's the link to the slideshow. Link here to the real estate listing while it lasts....

My brand new website - and the perils of perfectionism..

For the past year or so, I've been working on a new website for Driftwood Interiors. What I thought would be a fairly straightforward process (I knew how I wanted my site to look, how hard could it be?) was anything but. I had no idea of the work involved, the countless decisions to be made, or the sheer hard slog that goes into creating a site that works both visually and practically. Add the fact that I'm a terrible perfectionist and you get a never-ending cycle of not being 100% happy with at least something...

But enough is enough. I've decided to bite the bullet and let everyone know about my new website. There have been many, many changes since it (very quietly) went live, and there are still a few more to come. But here it is, the end result of all the blood, sweat, tears (and tantrums)..........my new Driftwood Interiors website and online store....

I'll be adding lots of new prints to the store over the next few days, and I'll also be offering a week of great discounts and deals to celebrate the launch. Here's a look at some of the brand new pieces I'll be adding - new ranges as well as new additions to my current lineup..

prints available in standard sizes (A4, A3, A2) as well as custom sizes

So that's just a taste of the new goodies to come. If you'd like to see more, why not head on over to the website and sign up for my newsletter? You'll be the first to know when new prints are added, and you'll also get some sweet rewards.

Hope you like the new website, and I'd love to hear any feedback you may have. Anything to make sure it's perfect :)

New prints in store for Mothers' Day

I've finally got my act together and listed my Dragonfly prints in my Etsy store. Australian readers might recognise them from Home Beautiful magazine, when my lovely friend Judy of Verandah House had her beautiful home featured. Judy commissioned two large dragonfly pieces for her master bedroom, and it was so nice to see them gracing the walls of such a gorgeous home...

You can see more of Judy's gorgeous home here

So hop on over, and don't forget - my 20% off sale ends midnight tonight!

It's black and white..

In the process of designing our new house, I thought I had at least a couple of things locked in. Timber floors - yep. Weatherboard exterior - for sure. White timber windows...definitely? They were a no-brainer until I came across my new obsession - black windows. I can't decide which way to go, and  I really love both options....

black...

or white...

Or maybe I'll just pretend I'm Victoria Grayson and go black inside, white out...

and take tea in my fabulous living room...

What to do, what to do? And I know, it's definitely a #firstworldproblem...

So, what do you think?

So the colour of the year for 2013 is Emerald Green, according to Pantone. I was quite surprised actually, as the early money was on Monaco Blue - and as you know, it's one of my favourites. But I have to say, I do love Emerald - it's strong and distinctive and not for the feint-hearted. Used wisely, it's a show-stopper. Used not-so-wisely, it's a hot mess. So I hope you think my new range of emerald sea corals is firmly in the first category....

I've put together some pics to show how lovely emerald can look. For me, I like it best when used as a pop of colour - the supporting act rather than the lead. A little can go a long way, but if you're game, it can really pay off - as the following pics show...

How gorgeous is this emerald chinoiserie wallpaper? It's in the home of the lovely Dagny of Scandinavian Chic, and I was smitten the minute I saw it. It's the perfect solution if you're a little scared of colour - a smaller space, away from the main living area is a great place to test the waters....

If you want to make a softer statement, try pairing it with soft tones of greens and blues - it lessens the impact and is soothing rather than strong...

Here, the island is the stand-out, with the green repeated in the wallpaper pattern for a cohesive look...

I love emerald with a grey background - it takes it down a notch yet still packs a punch. Although these tufted bedheads are not quite emerald, they'd work just as well if they were, and I love the pops of jewel colours in the room - the perfect accompaniment....

Nothing like a making a dramatic entrance - this sets the tone from the get-go....

So, what do you say? Are you a fan of Emerald, or do you think Pantone totally missed the mark? Love to know what you think......

Ho Ho Ho, and a Holiday Giveaway we go!

So I was going to run a short and sweet sale this year, but instead I've decided to extend it, and on top of that, I'm adding a giveaway to the mix!

Every time you purchase from either my Etsy store (or website, which is coming, I promise!) over the holiday season you'll go into the draw to receive their order ABSOLUTELY FREE!!! I'll draw the winner on 21st December and announce the results on my blog and via email. So if you want to get that shopping sorted once and for all, and maybe win some goodies for yourself in the process, head on over and shop away!

And in case you're wondering, the artwork you see in the above pic is a supersized version of my 'Ombre in Denim'. Just goes to show that sometimes, more really is more....

**to clarify - all orders placed from 26th Nov until midnight 20th Dec will go into the draw, so all you early bird shoppers are included!**

Botanical art...and the sale continues

Just wanted to let you know that after a little hiccup with my Cyber Monday Etsy sale (an unscheduled early end meant many of you missed the sale - so sorry!) I've extended it until midnight tonight...oh, and I've also added a brand new print. This orchid is the first in a new series of botanicals, which were going to be saved for my new online store, but what can I say...patience is not one of my virtues :)

So click on the pic for 20% off everything in store while it lasts....

Exciting changes ahead...

I know I've been a terrible tease, with talk of new and exciting things to come, but please bear with me. At long last, I have a brand-spankin' new website on the way, and it's been a labour of love to get it up and running. It's almost there - just a few last-minute tweaks and tucks, and it'll be good to go. So for those of you who've been so patient and put up with my teasing ways, I promise I'll make it up to you. I'll be having a grand opening, with exclusive pieces, goodies and discounts to celebrate, so I hope you'll think it was worth the wait. In the meantime, I've finally managed to finish a work on canvas that's been doing a little teasing of its own. And for those of you who are partial to a bit of zesty neon, this should be right up your alley....

It's been a stressful week - I have my last baby away at Schoolies. And after the terrible news that a young girl lost her life after falling from a balcony overnight, it makes it even harder to manage to stay calm. My heart breaks for the family and friends of this young woman, and I'm counting the minutes until I can pick my girl up. I know I'll be hugging her a little more tightly when she comes home tomorrow.....

Pink and gold goodness

Just catching up on my blog reading this morning (I'm sadly behind and missing out on way too much good stuff), when I saw this over at Bijou and Boheme:

My pink and gold, hand-painted print in the kitchen of Sarah, of Two One Nine blog. Love, love love the chair; can't go wrong with a pink and gold combo in my opinion. Thanks Christine for the heads-up, and thanks Sarah - love it!

While we're on the subject, I have a few new works just listed in my Etsy store, and both feature - you guessed it - pink....
