My exclusive range for Designer Boys

At long last I can spill the beans on some really exciting news! Earlier this year I met the lovely Gav and Waz from Designer Boys (and from the original series of The Block), and I was beyond thrilled when they approached me about designing an exclusive range of paintings for them. The boys have gone from strength to strength since their first tv appearance, and their framed art pieces are divine. I've just returned from the launch at Decoration and Design in Melbourne, and I can't tell you what a thrill it was to finally see all the hard work come together. I designed a series of coral paintings in three colourways, along with abstracts and butterflies. So, let me introduce.....

The Coral Collection in Rubine Red and Charcoal

Coral Pairs and Triptychs in Indigo and Rubine - and 'design aficionado' Charlie :) Such a sweetie!

'Earthly Delight I and II'

 'Coastal Calm I & II'

 'Butterfly Harmony I & II'

'Butterfly Harmony III and Butterfly Pair I, II & III'

These pieces are all printed and framed right here in Australia, and the quality is absolutely first class. We've also chosen to feature these pieces in lovely bamboo frames, which complement the prints beautifully. I'm really proud of the range, and it's been an absolutely pleasure to work with such genuinely lovely guys. And there's no rest for the wicked, with plans already afoot for new paintings and designs - can't wait to get started!

If you'd like more information on these pieces, or any of the Designer Boys range, you can purchase them through me at Driftwood Interiors. Just drop me a line at design@driftwoodinteriors.com au for more information.

It's Sale time - 20% off storewide in my Etsy shop!!!!

It's the end of the financial year, and that means....

All prints are now 20% off, but only for a limited time, so head on over to my Etsy store.

Oh, and you may have noticed I'm now on Instagram - my username is @driftwoodinteriors, or just click on the link on the top right of this page. It's quite different to any of the other social media sites - more of a relaxed, 'behind-the-scenes' type arrangement - and I have to say it's fast, fun and very addictive. Pop on over and say hi if you're that way inclined :)

Bali beauty

As a teenager, one of my prized items of clothing was a white, oversized Stuart Membery shirt. Worn with leggings, slouchy boots and requisite bandana tied in my hair (did I mention it was the late 80's?) I was loving myself sick. As you do. Anyway, nowdays I'm still a massive Membery fan, and although my shirt is sadly no more - worn to death until it was beyond help - my focus has shifted to his stunning interiors and furniture collection.

After moving to Bali, he unleashed his creative talents on an old bungalow, and transformed it by blending the best of colonial plantation, Hamptons style and Caribbean cool into the perfect island getaway.....

Happenings...and house stalking

Do you ever sit back and realise how lucky you are? I try to take the time out to appreciate all the good things, and lately I've had plenty of reasons to be grateful. It's been really busy on the work front, but when work means meeting up with lovely clients, in their gorgeous homes, I'm not complaining. Over the past weeks, I've taken a couple of road trips to the beautiful Byron Bay region. It's one of my favourite places on earth, and to top it off, I was honoured to have been invited to one of the most stunning homes I've ever seen. Let me set the scene for you: a beautifully restored farmhouse, set in rolling green countryside in the Byron hinterland. I know. I've been intently plotting and planning my move there ever since, and as I can't manage to persuade the current owners to part with their lovely home (yet), I guess I'll have to find an alternative. So take a look at a few options I've come up with......

Firstly, there's Coorabella, a bohemian old dame in the most amazing location. On the market for a cool $8mil+ (here's the link while it lasts)...

I have to admit - I'm imagining this painted with lashings of white paint...

Or how about Bandongrove - still one of my faves. Sadly, it was sold a few years ago...I just wasn't quick enough to pay my $7.5mil...

All that glitters...

...is often gold, but sometimes silver too. I've just had some of my pieces framed, and thought I'd share a few pics of the finished works. My fabulous framer has done an amazing job, so here's a look at what's new:

'Pink Orchids in Vintage Blue'
original watercolour on paper
30cmx42cm

...and here's a print in silver:

This is now hanging in Mum and Dad's newly-renovated bathroom - I'll share all the pics soon

These pieces are commissions for a lovely client in Rockhampton. Teacups and Louis chairs.....

'Maddalena'
original watercolour on paper
40cmx50cm

'Divertimenti'
original watercolour on paper
40cmx50cm

And look at this gorgeous orchid! My eldest daughter works part-time in a florist, so we're never short of beautiful blooms. This orchid is a stunner, and I think it would make a great subject for my next painting....

Pretty, no?

Black is the new black

I love colour. I work with it every day, and choosing a favourite is like asking me to choose a favourite child. But equally, I'm drawn to the simplicity and calm of a simple black and white scheme. It's the perfect neutral backdrop to whatever colour takes your fancy, yet it can stand on its own. This place is one from the archives, but remains a firm favourite of mine.

Don't you love the gate in the hedge? Hints at a secret garden beyond...

Straight to the new house folder with this one - how gorgeous is it?

If only my studio looked this good....and this tidy

 Black framed shower screen?

Are you fans of black and white too, or is it bright colour all the way? I think I have a split decorating personality to be honest...

I have a big day ahead, with a year 12 formal on tonight. The preparation began weeks ago, and after a major hiccup in the outfit department (all sorted now, thank goodness), I've hit the ground running. Such an exciting part of the final year of school, but honestly, it's almost as big as a wedding nowdays. Wish me luck!
