Now, of course, the walls will need to be painted, and those bricks will soon be history. But it's getting there. And not before time! Here's a reminder of what it looked like:
Oh, and here's the mirror I mentioned in my last post. It's on my painting hit list too, and now all I need to decide on is the colour. Here's a closer look:
So, decisions, decisions. While Bill's away, I need to choose a colour and get it painted, so he can re-hang it for me once the walls are finished. I do like the idea of black, but I'm thinking the size of the frame will make it too dominant in the room? And don't laugh, but the idea of silver leaf is quite appealing! I've done a lot of leafing over the years in my artwork, so I may just go ahead and do it, but with an aged, vintage finish rather than too bright and super-shiny.
Ok, I'm off to work now - painting classes await. Poor me, mondays are always so tough! Oh, and thanks to those of you who've asked about my classes. I'm in the process of arranging venues for some workshops, so once all the details are finalised, I'll let you know.
Have a wonderful week,
Fantastic Kerri. I bet it feels so light and fresh in there now. That mirror is a great size. Silver leaf sounds brilliant. Make sure you show and tell when it's done:o)
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious day for painting class.

It looks terrific! So fresh, you must be so pleased with it:)It's so great when you finally get what you want xx
ReplyDeleteThe new wall/ceiling looks great. There's nothing quite like a good coat of white paint to spruce things up.
ReplyDeleteI quite like the idea of silver leaf for the mirror. I reckon that would look very swish!
Wow! Kerri this is really coming along beautifully, what a difference already. I can only imagine how excited you are to get it done. Fun to see the process, Kathysue
ReplyDeleteLooking good Kerri! The paint makes such a difference! I like the idea of using the silver leaf and creating an aged look! Can't wait to see the results. xx

Hello my friend. Monstrous internet connection problems where I am at the moment (the beach!) so sorry it's taken me all day to comment. Ceiling looks fabulous, and as for the mirror I will refrain from saying you MUST silver leaf! You will certainly finish it quicker than my wretched chair which causes me grief every time I walk past it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fresh change! Love it. I think the mirror would look excellent in the silver leaf - you know what you are doing so go for it!
ReplyDeleteHi Kerri, the ceiling looks fantastic! I bet you are thrilled with it. I wonder if you have managed to find the lights you want as yet? That mirror should look good in silver leaf with a bit of antiquing and I am sure with your artistic talents you will make it look superb.
ReplyDeleteBlack AND silver leaf on part of it. Maybe just one of the "facets" of the frame (KWIM?) with crackled silver leaf.
ReplyDeleteYou are making great strides, Kerri! I'm jealous! I have a lot of ideas but getting then from ideas to reality is the kicker! Looking forward to seeing what you do next... xx Suzanne
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful soaring ceiling. What a difference white paint makes. I am looking forward to seeing it when it is done.
ReplyDeleteYour home just took a breath of fresh air! I bet you have a sore neck for admiring your new look ceiling. It looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteX Briohny.
The ceiling is looking fantastic - it really makes the kitchen seem so light and airy. As for the mirror I think I would go with a charcoal gray.
ReplyDeleteYour ceiling looks simply amazing. So much more light. You must be constantly looking up! Can you stop now - you're making me feel like such a slacker! Ann x
ReplyDeleteHi Kerri, I was sure I had already left a comment on this gorgeous post, but I guess not:( I love your white ceiling, it looks amazing!! What a difference some very hard work and some paint can make. You must be so happy with the result:) Hope you are having a wonderful week ~ Tina xx
ReplyDeleteYes dear Kerri I know EXACTLY what you're up against. Time is running out & fast for the open-faced red brick look that's happening at your place & mine - hooray! Not sure if it helps, but MOTH found using a very long thick sheepskin roller perfect for painting our bricks. The texture & nap got the paint into all the nooks & crannies.
ReplyDeleteMillie ^_^
Kerri it is looking brilliant.
