Mirror, mirror....

So...now that my ceilings are all white and wonderful, I've organised for my mate Bill to cover those last few brick walls with gyprock, and I'm telling you, I cannot wait to be rid of them. But as Bill has a holiday booked and will be away for the next couple of weeks (very inconsiderate of him, don't you think?) I'll take this time to plan my decorating theme for the dining area. At the moment, I have a large timber-framed mirror on the wall, and a sideboard, and I'll be giving them both a facelift with a fresh coat of paint. These are a few of the images I've saved, and of course there's a definite theme emerging here:

As usual, I'm drawn to the idea of painting the mirror either black or white. I could, of course, silver leaf it,  which I'm sure Kerry would recommend! And I'm quite liking the touches of gold that have found their way back into vogue in recent times, but my house is a little too rustic and rough around the edges for it to work.

I'll be back tomorrow with some pics of my pretty new ceilings, and also the mirror and sideboard in question. In the meantime, feel free to give my your opinions - your ideas are always so inspired. Ok, must go - I have a game to watch!

See you tomorrow,

  6. Kerri, you have posted some lovely images. I am with Ange, this is all up my alley too. Just wondering if you have the lovely white puffy couch or is that part of your plans... I also think I see another 'great room' - gee I wonder where AM got her inspiration from. Can't wait to see tomorrows photos of your sideboard mirror and white ceilings! Enjoy the game today, lets hope they win!

  7. I really, really want an oversized mirror or two. I just love them! I am partial to painting it white but you could add silver leaf to highlight bits of the frame. Depending on the frame of course! xx

  8. Love those oversized mirrors too Kerri...but I thought Bill was coming to Victoria not Canberra..it's probably warmer here. Thought he was doing my kitchen while hubby is at work..Are you sure we can't convince him????

  9. Love the oversized mirrors Kerri, these pics are all gorgeous! I missed commenting on your post from yesterday, I am so sorry! I get migraines a lot and our Olivia has had three in her young lifetime, and it is so distressing as a parent to see your child experience them:( I hope your blossom is feeling better and that the doctor was able to offer something to help her. ~ Tina xx

  11. oh, I would have such a hard time knowing which to choose: white or black. I like both...and like you some things fit better in one room vs another and since I like both, its always hard to know! white is so clean, neat and refreshing. black is so sharp, rich and drawing. hmmmm...maybe if you gave us a pic of the room we could help you decide. I know whatever you choose will be perfect!

  15. If you go for a neutral colour palette it is great to play around with colourful touches. The interior can change with seasons or your mood. For the frame of the miror I think I would go for white but it depends on the type of framd and the width etc.

  16. Love those images and was happy to hear you mention silver leaf. Our over sized mirror is silver and I was considering painting it, but your comment may have saved me the trouble.

So glad you stopped by from Kat's. I love your blog!
