Hamptons style comes to Brisbane

I've had this house saved in my files for a while now, and it's a lovely example of what you get when you combine Hamptons style with traditional Queenslander architecture.

 love the outdoor living area

Now, it just so happens that this home is on the market again. The new owners' style is quite a bit different to that of the original owners:

So, what's the verdict - do you like the original decorative scheme (the original owner is an interior designer btw) or do you prefer the new owners' style? I'd love to know what you think!

  1. I have been mulling over the brown leather couch idea (two boys so it seems practical) but this has put me clean off! The fabric versions are so much more my thing.... lovely home and so interesting to see it filled with different furniture. A x

  2. It's a great house isn't it? I'm very drawn to covered outdoor rooms at the moment...wishful thinking and hoping for some nice weather I think! I'm not sure about the furnishings in either version to be honest...it all seems a bit too heavy for the light and airiness of the house...maybe??

  3. In all honesty, I MUCH prefer the style of the new owners, but that's why style is such a personal thing hey. Hope you're week is off to a great start Kerri. Nicolex

  4. Hi Kerri,
Personally prefer the previous look - suites the style of the house better in my (humble!) opinion. But hey - what a gorgeous place - it would be beautiful no matter the decor. Ali

  5. I'm loving the house from the outside, especially the front as it only hints at what might lay beyond.
I wouldn't want to live in either of the interiors but I guess in both cases they've been styled to sell, ie empty!

  6. Well, I do prefer the original set up, to me the leather and the side chairs are too heavy for the look of the home, but it is still stunning!

  8. No, not that fond of the original interiors. The house has great bones, its beautiful and the second owners have better interiors. I perhaps would still go slightly different in choice of furniture pieces.

What about you, what do you think?

  9. I like the photos on Annie's blog...not too keen on those big bulky leather sofas, but the interior clapboard and colorful bedrooms are lovely! :))

  13. I think I prefer the style above, it's more laid back although I don't like the weird mix of furniture in the last pic. I love the qld'er style homes. Thanks for sharing Kerri!
