what a way to wake up every morning
stunning seascpes take centre stage in the main living area
the curtains are divine, as are Marcella's signature peony paintings
Fast forward a few years, and fashion icon Maggie Tabberer is the new owner, making a few changes in the decor department:
Maggie enlisted friend Pam Makin of Les Interieurs to collaborate on the new interior design scheme
Maggie's style is a little more 'designed' perhaps?
new artwork, bedside tables and curtains in the main bedroom
So, I'd love to know what you think - which style do you prefer? Honestly, I'd be more than happy with either!

I cant decide..love them both..Good ol Maggie..she certainly does ooze class and style god love her! Love this post Kerri x
ReplyDeleteOh yes Kerri...this is a house I've loved to look at too! As much as I love MT's style, the art work in the first iteration really does it for me. And such a beautiful space to work with. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteOh, I have always LOVED this place! I would take either style as I think it all takes 2nd place to the internal courtyard with the pool and frangipani tree. I love how the whole house opens up onto it :)
ReplyDeleteI remember that house from Vogue Living - it really hasn't dated!
ReplyDeleteMaggie Taberrer looks better than ever too...
Kerri!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is seriously my dream house!
I have the picture of the bathroom looking out to the pool on my pinboard at home.
It is divine!!!!! LETS KICK MAGGIE OUT!
Ib n bvccbv b b b loved them both but if I had to choose I think I would go with Maggies style myself...By the way I think our husbands must be twins seperated at birth, they have the same shed contents, lol!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing this house in VL, I didn't know that Maggie T had bought it now. I think I prefer Maggie's style. Such a stunning home, I LOVE pools in courtyards in the middle of the house. BTW I can't remember who it was but some guy told me that he saw Maggie at the airport once and her beauty literally took his breath away (even at whatever age she is now)!
ReplyDeleteTHanks for sharing Kerri,
Jxx
THe house looks gorgeous Kerri, I would love to see a floor plan as it look like the house is built around a courtyard. I prefer Marcella's style but I would happily take either. Have a great day. xx
ReplyDeleteHey Kerri,
ReplyDeleteLike you I've bookmarked both versions and think that to sleep in that dreamy bedroom would be the epitome of bliss.
x Felicity
As much as I love Maggie Tabberer I prefer the look of the home when Marcella Kaspar and her husband Mark Cooper owned it.

Kerri, the floral canvas over the bed of the 1st owners is my all time fave. If you ever feel the need to paint something like this let me know.....and yes this is a home to aspire to.....simply stunning, stunning.
ReplyDeleteI remember this house .. as at that we lived in a 70's house that had a courtyard smack bang in the middle of the house (surrounded on all sides). It wasn't as large as this - but oh how I dreamed of putting a pool in there.
ReplyDeleteAs far as picking which style - I would have to stick with the original. I love Maggie T's style - but LOVE the original
(-:
That's funny, I scrolled through the first few photos thinking "wow, that looks a lot like Maggie Tabberer's home"... and so it is. Clearly, I spend WAY too much time with my head buried in mag's.
ReplyDeleteI like the first way, but I would have to keep those beautiful curtains in Maggie's bedroom, they are lovely.
I like the first set best! Love those huge seascapes.
ReplyDeleteKerri, I swear we are design spirit sisters... I have this house in my inspiration folder along with Huka Lodge! How funny! I've always adored the bathroom and the Frangipani trees in the courtyard x
ReplyDeleteYou have inspired me, Kerri. Maybe I will try it again - making it all the way through my huge stack of magazines.
ReplyDeleteFondly,
Glenda
I fell in love with this Sydney house from the moment I first laid eyes on it a few years back. It was the perfect back drop for Marcella's lovely artwork.
ReplyDeleteOoooh both gorgeous, so that makes it a tough one... Can I say a little of both? I was going with Maggie but then scrolled up again and now am not sure...
ReplyDeleteWow. I remember the original article as I too have a huge magazine collection - one of my addictions I just can't shake. I like elements from both of these styles - if I had to choose I would probably go with the original design. Hope your having a great week. Michelle
ReplyDeletewow, cool post kerri. i love both ,but have to admit i tend towards no1 a bit more. Maggie T is such a style icon, but i kinda like the looser look of the previous owners.
ReplyDeleteamazing house either way!! jxo
I'd actually like to mesh the two. Over All, I like the 2nd one best. But I love the artwork and dinning chairs in the 1st. Either way the house is Dreamy!!
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah thats gorgeous all right! I loive that huge rose painting.. what a statement.
ReplyDeleteThat is a tough one! I think option 1 is more me however I wouldn't complain with option 2 :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
XO
What an amazing house. I'm more the first - a little more relaxed, traditional - than the second. What amazing living room sliding doors. I don't think I've seen such large ones before. I take it you don't have bugs as I don't see any screens on them.
ReplyDeleteI love that oak table with the marble top.....gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I think the first style grabs me more. Love that the house is so infused with beautiful light. And both are infused with the love of their owners.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I could be happy with either style too, what a house!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
Hi Kerri, you're right , this house is sunning either way, but if I HAD to choose I'd go for the colours in the first version, they look a little more comforting to me, and I love the paintings.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comment, but making jam is really to easy to raise me to the status of domestic goddess!!
Sharon
Both designs are wonderful but I really love the bright airy feeling of the original decor and the exquisite artwork.
ReplyDeleteI have just popped back in to check out those peonie paintings again and they are just the standout for me...boy I hope to talk hubby into these......
ReplyDeleteThanks Kerri, I am still really appreciative of your offer....fingers crossed for a while;)
